LAS VEGAS...A WEEK IN THE HOT CITY

After entering Nevada, we crossed the Hoover Dam. The photo below is looking out over Lake Mead--the body of water held back by Hoover Dam.

We spent a part of each day visiting with Dwain and Nancy's brother Gaither and wife Paula, who opened their home and hearts to us. Plus feeding us many delicious meals.

This photo is for Ginny who is an avid Elvis fan. Our hotel window overlooked the LVH, formerly known as the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino where Elvis spent several years performing.

The following photos are from the U.S. Open Table Tennis Tournament where Dwain and his friends Bill and Jonathan competed. There were almost one thousand competitors including the best players in America and many from other countries.  Dwain won two silver medals in his age group.

Two tired warriors (Dwain and Bill) restocking calories after some tough matches.

The following photos are the Pawn stars location in Las Vegas where their TV program is filmed. There was a long line of people waiting to get inside.

Paula and Gaither took us to see Red Rock Canyon. Following are some photos showing the unique, colorful and interesting rock formations.

We saw some wild donkeys in the canyon.

We had a wonderful time in Las Vegas, but it was hot, hot, hot. The lowest day time temperature was 104 and the highest was 117. We spent a lot of time drinking water to prevent dehydration.

Our next destination is Salt Lake City.

  1. Glad you all got time with Gaither and his family. And so proud of Daddy-o winning 2 silver medals! y'all are going to need to buy a luggage rack to fit all those medals in the car! Love the red rock pics, magical.
